Manchester City have hope that Bernardo Silva will stay at the club for their upcoming season.

The midfielder has found himself being linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium in recent weeks having attracted interest from the likes of Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Al-Hilal.

Having offered the 28-year-old a fresh contract to try and keep him at the club, some fresh behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding the Citizens’ current stance on Silva and his future.

According to a recent report from The Athletic “the European champions have been in talks with Bayern [Munich] over a deal for [Kyle] Walker and a move is still considered likely, although there is more hope within the club that Bernardo will stay for at least one more season.”

Since joining the Manchester club back in 2017 from Monaco in a deal worth £43m, the Portuguese international has gone on to make 306 appearances across all competitions.

Throughout those 306 appearances, Silva has scored 55 goals, provided 59 assists and won many trophies along the way.

Described as a “fabulous” player by Graeme Souness, the midfielder showed last season how important he is for Pep Guardiola’s side as he featured in all but six of their matches, shocasing his versatility by playing in numerous roles across the pitch.

With that in mind, and the fact that the City boss previously described Silva as one of the best players he has coached, it’s easy to see why the club are eager to keep hold of him.

Now that it has been claimed that the club have hope that the 28-year-old, this should encourage the City supporters that want to see the player stay where he is.
