Manchester City will be having a big summer, with the 2024/25 season having shown a number of players need to move on from the club – and the club look to have eyes on a top attacking midfielder.
After huge success over the last few years, Manchester City have experienced a real comedown this season.
The club are now facing a big battle to secure Champions League football, and have really suffered without Rodri in midfield.
City spent a lot of money in January as they brought forward plans to rebuild the team.
That rebuild will continue this summer, and a number of positions will be on Hugo Viana’s agenda.
Kevin De Bruyne’s future remains up in the air and the Belgian could leave this summer.
Man City assess Bernardo Silva’s contract by the summer these days, and may decide to cash in on the Portuguese maestro.
So potentially two attacking midfielders could leave. But City are now said to be tracking Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White.
Manchester City interested in Morgan Gibbs-White transfer

According to a report from Caught Offside, Manchester City are one of several clubs that have placed Morgan Gibbs-White on their transfer radar heading into the summer.
Gibbs-White has enjoyed a terrific spell at Nottingham Forest since joining them from Wolves in 2022.
The star has been a top signing and played a crucial role this season for Forest in their unlikely push for the Champions League, scoring five goals and making six assists in 24 Premier League appearances.
It is stated that Gibbs-White is being tracked by several Premier League clubs right now, including:
- Manchester City
- Manchester United
- Arsenal
- Tottenham Hotspur
And there is word of a potential asking price, with Forest likely to demand at least £50 million according to Caught Offside.
But if Forest make the Champions League, the Reds will surely be able to ask for more.
Interestingly, Gibbs-White recently came in for praise from Pep Guardiola, who said that he and Anthony Elanga were both ‘exceptional players’ (via talkSPORT).

Phil Foden factor could help Man City sign Morgan Gibbs-White
So Gibbs-White might be a target for City this summer, and Guardiola may well have a trump card to play in any transfer battle with other clubs.
And that card comes in the form of Phil Foden, who is one of Gibbs-White’s best friends.
Gibbs-White is actually the godfather of Foden’s son Ronnie, and the pair have played together for England youth teams, and now the senior side.
Gibbs-White has also previously revealed that he and Foden have roomed together a lot, and that their girlfriends are also friends.
So potentially, this could have legs.
Although City may want to see if Claudio Echeverri could be an option to play as an attacking midfielder in the first-team from next season.
