Manchester City are reportedly one of the clubs keeping an eye on Brighton & Hove Albion winger Kaoru Mitoma.

The latest summer transfer window only closed a week ago but the Manchester club have since been mentioned with having interest in one player that many Premier League fans will be very familiar with.

Although, the treble winners aren’t the only side that have their eyes set on the player.

According to a recent report from 90 Min, City are one of the clubs, alongside Liverpool, Barcelona and Napoli, that are keeping tabs on Mitoma and his future.

However, the report also adds that Brighton are confident that they can finalise a new contract for the winger, who has previously been described as a “magnificent” player by journalist Tyrone Marshall, before the end of the year.

Last season saw the 26-year-old score 10 goals and deliver eight assists in 41 appearances for Brighton across all competitions.

This eventually led to Pep Guardiola naming Mitoma as one of his favourite Asian players during City’s recent pre-season tour of Asia, describing his previous campaign as “extraordinary.”

With four Premier League games under his belt in this new season, the Japanese international has scored one goal and provided three assists.

Taking all of that into account, it’s easy to see why Brighton are keen to see Mitoma sign a new deal and why he has clubs such as City looking at him.

Moving forward, regardless of whether or not the attacker signs a new deal at his current club in the coming months, we feel that City should make a move to sign the player in the next summer transfer window if he ends up having another impressive season.
