Manchester City have reportedly turned their attention Lucas Paqueta of West Ham United.

Pep Guardiola’s side are seemingly not done in the transfer market after signing Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol.

City are looking to try and achieve more silverware this season.

Another Treble would be an astonishing feat, but that has to be the aim.

But it will be difficult, especially having lost Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan – two big-game players.

There has been some talk about Mahrez being replaced.

But no one has come in yet for the Algerian.

City have been linked with one player quite heavily recently – but the interest in Paqueta might just mean that ship has now sailed.

Man City may be moving on from Michael Olise with Lucas Paqueta interest

City are widely reported to be interested in Paqueta.

And apparently, a bid of £70 million has either already been made or is about to be.

It is interesting, because Paqueta is someone that plays in the middle.

Theoretically, if Paqueta signs, then this potentially means that Pep Guardiola will be using Phil Foden or Bernardo Silva on the right wing. It’s possible he will use both in rotation.

And if that is going to be the plan, then City fans can probably forget about the club making a move for Olise, who Patrick Vieira has said has an ‘unbelievable’ work ethic.

Hopefully both are signed

It is very possible that City will shelve their interest in £48,000-a-week star Olise as they target Paqueta.

But it would be amazing if the club felt there was scope to sign both.

It is a bit of myth that City have amazing depth.

In terms of number of bodies, City’s squad is not that big.

It would be great if Olise still came in on top of Paqueta, especially since he is not so dissimilar to Mahrez in terms of not being amazingly quickly but being extremely technical.
