Manchester City are targeting some exciting players this summer.

Talks were held about Florian Wirtz last week when Bayer Leverkusen travelled to the Etihad Stadium for a meeting, with the German side incidentally keen to sign both James McAtee and Stefan Ortega.

The Bayer Leverkusen No.10 is a remarkable footballer, and would surely light up the Premier League if Hugo Viana and Pep Guardiola can lure him to Manchester.

Another elite talent could join Florian Wirtz at Manchester City – with the Citizens ready to spend £56m to sign Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan, according to Sky Sports.

Tijjani Reijnders to Manchester City looks on as fresh report emerges

Sacha Tavolieri has now claimed that Manchester City are happy to meet AC Milan’s €65m (£56m) asking price for the Netherlands international this summer.

It is said that Manchester City consider Reijnders to be the ideal replacement for Ilkay Gundogan – who has just signed a contract extension – as the German approaches his 35th birthday.

Sky Sports add that the Dutchman believes he could take his game to another level under Guardiola, and would find an offer from Manchester City to be irresistible should one arrive.

That is despite the fact the AC Milan No.14 only signed a new contract at the San Siro as recently as March, which ties him to the Italian giants until June 2030.

However, with AC Milan willing to sell for £56m, it seems as if that contract extension was more to preserve the 26-year-old’s value than anything else.

Reijnders has been one of the standout midfielders in Europe this season, scoring 14 goals and providing four assists in 46 appearances.

AC Milan braced for a bid

While Manchester City are willing to spend £56m on the man born in Zwolle, it sounds as if Viana plans to lowball the Italians first.

A story from Calciomercato recently claimed that AC Milan expect Manchester City to bid for Reijnders this summer, but anticipate an opening offer in the region of £43m to £52m.

Nevertheless, with the AC Milan star keen on a move to Manchester City, it feels like this deal is likely to happen.
