A latest revelation has emerged that reveals that Manchester City are keeping a close eye on Euro 2024 as an indicator to potentially sign one transfer target.
Much like City, several teams in the past have signed players after watching them light up a certain international tournament.
Real Madrid, for instance, signed James Rodriguez after his exploits at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil where he won the Golden Boot after scoring an impressive five goals for Colombia.
Marseille signed Azzedine Ounahi after his mesmeric showings for Morocco at the 2022 World Cup.
On Sunday, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Riccardo Calafiori, who impressed in an Italian shirt at the ongoing European Championship has agreed personal terms with Arsenal and is now waiting for them to make a bid for his signature.
Pep Guardiola’s men are yet to officially sign a player in the transfer window so far.

Man City mulling over Dani Olmo transfer decision after his performance for Spain against Germany
Last Tuesday, it was reported by Romano that all the required documents have been signed for Savio to become a Manchester City player — even though a deal is yet to be officially announced.
Dani Olmo is a player who seems to be on the club’s radar — with a revelation emerging on Friday that Pep Guardiola is keen on the RB Leipzig attacker’s signature as Kevin De Bruyne continually gets linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.
According to a report by GiveMeSport, Manchester City are considering whether to sign Olmo — who has a €60 million (£50.6 million) release clause that is valid until July 15, as per Fabrizio Romano — after his opening goal and match-winning assist for Mikel Merino’s late header in Spain’s 2-1 victory against Germany in the quarter-final of Euro 2024.
Man City should not view Euro 2024 exploits as the reason to sign Dani Olmo
While the Spanish international’s brilliant technique and undeniable versatility makes him the right fit for a Pep Guardiola team, the question is which position he would elevate to another level if he was signed.
In the number 10 positions, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden are arguably two of the best in Europe.
Out wide, Olmo is not at his best and Jeremy Doku is a player with a higher ceiling in the role — due to being a natural wide forward, four years younger and a uniquely gifted dribbler.
If City intend to deploy the former Dinamo Zagreb forward as a false nine, that would pose the question of how much he would play, considering they already have two natural strikers in Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.
As a result, the English giants should not conflate Olmo’s undeniably impactful showings for Spain in Germany with how he fits into their side.
