Manchester City reportedly want Bernardo Silva to sign a contract extension amid rumours linking him with a move away from the club this summer.
Recent days have seen reports claiming that Saudi Arabian club, Al-Hilal, are working on a mega-money offer to lure the City midfielder away from the Etihad Stadium.
Now though, one journalist has shared some behind-the-scenes details on what the current landscape looks like regarding the 28-year-old and what his future could look like.
City want contract extension for Silva
In a recent Twitter post, journalist Ben Jacobs said this on the situation surrounding Silva.
He said: “Al-Hilal are pushing hard to sign Bernardo Silva, but he hasn’t made any final decision yet.
“#MCFC want Silva to sign an extension and he is contracted until 2025. PSG and Barcelona are interested.”
With the Portuguese international featuring in all but six of City’s games across all competitions last season, scoring seven goals and delivering eight assists in the process, it’s understandable why the club are keen to not only keep hold of the player this summer, but also potentially extend his stay at the club beyond the end of his current deal.
Also, with Pep Guardiola previously sharing his love for the midfielder and describing him as one of the best players he has coached in his career, this further highlights how important he is for the team and the manager.
Jack Grealish was even spotted pleading with the 28-year-old to stay with the Citizens during their recent title celebrations.
