Manchester City are reportedly now firmly in the race to sign Declan Rice this summer.
After seeing Arsenal get their first of two bids rejected for the West Ham United midfielder, it was reported that the Citizens were exploring the possibility of launching their own move for him.
Now though, a fresh update has emerged on the situation that could excite a lot of City supporters.
City working on Rice bid

In a recent Twitter post, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio said this on the matter.
He said: “@ManCity strongly join the race for Declan #Rice from @WestHam – alongside @Arsenal. #MCFC working on a bid.”
With the Hammers apparently looking to pick up around £100m for the 24-year-old, this highlights what sort of bid City may have to stump up if they want to bring the midfielder to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Bearing in mind how recent reports have claimed that Ilkay Gundogan has agreed to join Barcelona as a free agent rather than sign a new deal with the Citizens, this could be what has led to the club putting themselves in the race to sign Rice.
Described as a “world class” player by journalist Adrian Durham, the Hammer captain could well be enticed with a move to the Etihad as he’d have the chance to play under Pep Guardiola for a side that have been domestically dominant in terms of winning trophies for a number of years now and have recently won their first Champions League title.
Also, the opportunity to play alongside some of his England teammates such as John Stones, Kyle Walker, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Kalvin Phillips could also sway Rice into joining City if they come up with a bid West Ham feel is suitable enough to accept.
