Man City are one of the many European clubs interested in signing Ousmane Diomande from FC Midtjylland, as per Danish outlet B.T.
Man City eyeing Ousmane Diomande transfer
However, Pep Guardiola’s side are not the only team in the continent to have their sights set on the Ivorian centre-back.
In fact, the likes of Arsenal, Sevilla, Southampton, Porto and Benfica were already interested in the 19-year-old.
While Man City are yet to make an official offer for Ousmane Diomande, the club had several conversations with FC Midtjylland on both Monday and Tuesday.
Furthermore, the Portuguese side put in an initial £4.4 million bid for the player, which was initially rejected.
But Ruben Amorim’s side seem insistent on signing the defensive gem, as they were willing to pay as much as £7.1 million for his signature.
However, the report does state that it is likely that the wonderkid joins Sporting CP, as it is believed that an £8.8 million offer plus add-ons could seal the deal.
Even if City miss out on the youngster, this shows their insistence on targeting future superstars
In January last year, the Premier League champions signed Julian Alvarez, which has turned out to be a sensational deal.
This month as well, Maximo Perrone, who Pep Guardiola went out of his way to personally ring has joined the Sky Blues.
And this very strategy has been in place at the club for years on, as they have a tendency to make low-key signings such as Oleksandr Zinchenko back in 2016, who has gone on to become one of the best left-backs in the world, and is currently flying at Arsenal.
Even if Ousmane Diomande does join Sporting CP, Man City fans should be delighted at their club’s transfer strategy.
