Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has returned to training following the injury he picked up during the club’s recent victory against Newcastle United.

Last weekend saw the Citizens secure a dramatic win against the Magpies at St. James’ Park thanks to an injury-time winner from Oscar Bobb.

In the early stages of the match, City were forced into an early change as Ederson picked up a knock that left him unable to continue.

With the squad now having travelled to Abu Dhabi for a period of warm weather training before Friday’s FA Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur, the club have shared an update on the Brazilian’s fitness.

In a recent post on their official website, the club shared an image of Ederson featuring in a training session at their Abu Dhabi base.

On their image of the shot-stopper, the club said this in their caption.

They said: “Great to see Ederson up and about after his knock at Newcastle.”

This season has seen the 30-year-old start all but one of their 20 Premier League games, which highlights how important he is for the team and Pep Guardiola.

Speaking after the Newcastle game, the City boss had this to say about the injury Ederson picked up.

He said: “He had a big knock. I didn’t speak with the doctors. He didn’t walk well as he left the pitch but if it is just a knock he will be fine because we have a break for 10 days. If there is some damage, the doctors will tell me.”

With the Brazil international now back on the training field with the rest of his teammates in Abu Dhabi, this suggests that the injury he was struck with against Newcastle was just a knock and nothing that would keep him out of action for a significant period of time.

Moving forward, everyone at the club will undoubtedly be gald that this injury scare was not a serious one and will now be hoping that Ederson can avoid picking up anymore injuries throughout the remainder of the season.
