With Liverpool making statement signings like Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, if Manchester City were to finish above them in the table next season, they could become Premier League champions.
Arsenal are yet to sign a single player so far and unlike Arne Slot’s side, they have been unable to get over the line under Mikel Arteta.
Liverpool, however have a squad full of winners and having cruised to the league title last season, they look like the favourites to retain their crown unless Manchester City stun English football by usurping them.
Pep Guardiola aims to win the Premier League again and in Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri, they have signed three players who could certainly boost City’s chances of conquering English football.
Man City should make a move for Liverpool target Anthony Gordon
However, another worry for Manchester City could be that journalist Ben Jacobs revealed on talkSPORT’s Inside Gooners show that Liverpool target Anthony Gordon is keen to make a move to Anfield: “Anthony Gordon is a player Arsenal have liked, like Chelsea and Liverpool for quite some time, I think from Liverpool’s perspective, Liverpool will go very big on Anthony Gordon on that left hand side.”
Jacobs added: “When Newcastle were in that PSR bind 12 months ago, there was almost a £70 million deal between Liverpool and Anthony Gordon and Gordon’s head was turned, he would like to go to Liverpool despite his Everton links.”
However, Manchester City should hijack Liverpool’s bid to sign Gordon, as they are in need of signing an established winger like the Newcastle United forward.
Manchester City have previously admired Gordon and unlike both Jeremy Doku and Savinho, the England international is a Premier League-proven wide player.
Registering 17 goals and 21 assists in his past two league campaigns, the 24-year-old has been a revelation for the Magpies and Pep Guardiola could do with having a productive winger in his ranks — something Doku and Savinho still have to improve despite being two very talented players.
Furthermore, unlike City’s current wing pair, the former Everton speedster is excellent at running in behind defences and can be the kind of outlet they have missed since Raheem Sterling.
Gordon considers himself quicker than Kyle Walker, which emphasises how quick he is and unlike most wingers nowadays, he can also be effective on both flanks.

If Manchester City were to sign Gordon, such a move would bolster their squad, help them replace Jack Grealish, who could leave the Etihad Stadium and impact Liverpool’s transfer plans as well.
Kyle Walker revealed why he has a ‘lot of respect’ for Anthony Gordon
For Manchester City, another reason to try and sign Gordon over Liverpool is on The Kyle Walker Podcast, the veteran revealed on his podcast that he respects him due to the Carabao Cup winner’s willingness to run at him.
“Not a lot of players now try to run me, the ones who do try I respect them more because they have tried.”
“For example, Anthony Gordon, he will have a go at me every time and for that I have a lot of respect for him because he can keep going and he’s wanting to improve.”
