Manchester City have signed a plethora of players during Pep Guardiola’s reign at the club.
Having been at the Etihad Stadium since 2016 as City’s manager, the 53-year-old has seen many players make moves in and out of the Manchester club.
However, with his current contract set to expire in June, Guardiola’s time welcoming new players to the club could be over soon.
Despite that, some behind-the-scenes information has come to the forefront regarding one figure who has been identified as being the perfect Guardiola player.

Man City identify Florian Wirtz as perfect player for Pep Guardiola
According to a recent report from TeamTalk, City’s recruitment staff have identified Florian Wirtz as being a perfect player for Guardiola’s system.
The report also adds that it would take a bid of £90m to get Bayer Leverkusen to consider selling their midfield star, whose contract isn’t set to expire until the summer of 2027.
City are leading Premier League rivals in Wirtz race
Earlier this month, it was reported that City have the most concrete interest in Wirtz out of the numerous Premier League clubs looking at him.
In addition to that, Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro said that the club don’t want to sell Wirtz to Bayern Munich, which would only strengthen City’s chances of signing the 21-year-old.
With 165 appearances for the German club under his belt, the midfielder, who Victor Boniface has hailed as a “special talent”, has scored 48 goals and delivered 51 assists.
Interestingly, with Xabi Alonso being one of the potential replacements for Guardiola at City, it would be interesting to see if both he and Wirtz end up at the Etihad together at some point.
However, if City feel the German would massively suit the 53-year-old’s system, this could suggest that the club’s recruitment staff are expecting to see Guardiola stay where he is beyond the current expiration date of his contract.
