But Barcelona are also thought to have presented an offer.

Apparently, club officials have been making assurances to the 32-year-old and his team of representatives that they will be able to register him.

They have told him that he is a priority signing, and that he would be the first new player registered this summer.

Barca have wanted to dispel any doubts Gundogan has, and they have told him there will no problems, despite apparently having exceeded their salary limit.

They believe that the player will give the green light in the coming days to a three-year contract with them.

Fabrizio Romano claimed recently that Barca wanted Gundogan – who finished 2022/23 with 11 goals in all competitions – last summer, and have long thought that he is a really underrated player.

Time is of the essence now for City.

If the club want to keep him, they are going to have to really fight. Because it sounds like Barca feel they might just get him.
