Manchester City will reportedly be happy to let Kyle Walker see out his contract at the Etihad Stadium.
90min have reported on the defender’s future, with the star having struggled for game time lately.
Walker is out of favour at the moment at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola has found huge success playing with three centre-backs.
He has been using Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake, with John Stones playing right-back but pushing into midfield alongside Rodri.
It has meant Walker has had to make do with a place on the bench.
Guardiola recently said that Walker simply doesn’t have the capacity to be a regular in this new system.
So there has been a bit of speculation about his future. But 90min say that the club are happy to let him run down his current contract, which expires in the summer of 2024.
The publication then make the very interesting claim that Sheffield United are most interested in a reunion with Walker.
The Blades – Walker’s former club – are currently in the Championship and pushing for promotion back to the Premier League.
They sit second behind already promoted Burnley, and are eight points clear of the play-off places.
It remains to be seen if they will come in for Walker if they do seal promotion.
City ‘are not actively looking to force Walker out of the exit door’. But it is not yet clear how Walker himself feels about things.

It will be interesting to watch this situation over the summer.
Walker has been a great signing for City since his £50 million move from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017. He has undoubtedly been one of the best right-backs the Premier League has seen.
He doesn’t find himself in the starting XI much right now. But he is still a very good player to have in the squad.
Despite his advancing years, Walker still has electric pace and this can really help City in certain situations.
Hopefully he will not push for a move this summer, and be determined to become a regular in the team again.
