Man City transfer news: City want top move for James McAtee

Manchester City are looking to facilitate a top loan move for James McAtee next season.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, City officials are keen to get the youngster playing at the highest level possible in 2023/24.

McAtee has enjoyed a really productive campaign this season on loan at Sheffield United.

The starlet has made 43 appearances across all competitions, scoring nine goals and making four assists.

He’s really impressed with his technical ability, and City are delighted with the way he has developed at Bramall Lane.

City are already thinking about how to bring McAtee on further.

Nixon reports that City are looking to get McAtee out to a top club. Apparently, City are also in talks with German sides being encouraged by the possibility of taking him for a year.

Some have wondered whether McAtee could be involved with the City first-team next season.

Pep Guardiola said recently that he was ‘incredibly delighted’ with how he and Tommy Doyle have done at Sheffield United. He also branded him ‘a special player’ earlier this year.

So he is well informed about him.

But City seemingly feel he will benefit more from another loan spell.

This is an exciting plan that City have for one of the best young prospects on their books.

McAtee has been absolutely superb in the Championship this season.

But he could develop even better by experiencing a new league and player with higher quality players.
