It has been reported that Liverpool are firmly in the hunt to complete a transfer for former Manchester City wonderkid Romeo Lavia.

Fabrizio Romano: Liverpool in the race to complete Romeo Lavia transfer
When the Sky Blues sold the Belgian defensive midfielder for £12 million (Fabrizio Romano) to Southampton, the presence of a £40 million buy-back clause meant the sale was a safe one.
However, Lavia took the Premier League by storm and with the clause only viable to be activated in 2024 has left other clubs with the chance to secure his services in the summer.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has made the claim that Liverpool are ‘in the race’ to sign Romeo Lavia.
Further details claim that Arsenal have been working on a deal to sign the ex-Anderlecht sensation for 15 days but are yet to submit a bid.
While Manchester United and Chelsea have also been ‘exploring’ a potential move but are ‘not in active talks yet.’
Blow for Manchester City
The fact that Romeo Lavia, who would have been perfect as the cover for Rodri could join Liverpool next season must be a disappointment for Manchester City.
After all, the 19-year-old has the potential to even take over the Spaniard’s spot in the starting XI, once he begins to wear away at the top level in years’ time.
Instead, Lavia could now join the Sky Blues’ biggest rival in recent seasons and strengthen Klopp’s side as they aim to challenge at the top again.
Perhaps this could be a lesson for the treble-winners to insert buy-back clauses that allow them to sanction a transfer just a season after they sell such a highly-talented youngster.
