A claim has been made that Manchester City are set to ramp up their efforts to wrap up a transfer for RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol.
This comes from the Daily Mail, as Fabrizio Romano revealed in March that Pep Guardiola was a ‘big fan’ of the 21-year-old.
Now, it seems like Manchester City have no intention to slow down in their pursuit to complete a transfer for Josko Gvardiol.
Manchester City ready to step up Josko Gvardiol transfer pursuit
It was first claimed in March that the highly-rated central defender was a ‘priority target’ in the summer for the newly-crowned treble winners.
With Aymeric Laporte rumoured to leave City and the club usually deploying four centre-halves in their starting XI, it makes sense to bulk that area up of the squad.
It has now indeed been reported that Manchester City will ‘intensify’ their pursuit to get a transfer over the line for Josko Gvardiol, with the Spanish international expected to bid farewell to the club.

The Croatian international is valued at £85 million and if he does join Pep Guardiola’s side, he could become the club’s second most expensive signing since Jack Grealish.
Josko Gvardiol would be the perfect successor to Aymeric Laporte
As much of a loss as it would be for Manchester City to lose Aymeric Laporte, signing Josko Gvardiol would be another example of the club being experts in the transfer market.
For starters, much like Laporte, Gvardiol is also left-footed, exceptional on the ball and an intelligent reader of the game.
In addition, the youngster is used to playing in a back three, having done so a number of times for Leipzig, which makes him tailor-made for a spot in the Sky Blues defence.
With there also being a strong case to make for Josko Gvardiola perhaps being better than Aymeric Laporte when he was 21 himself, the seven-time Premier League winners could be signing a real gem.
