A report has claimed that both Manchester City and Liverpool are plotting a potential transfer for Levi Colwill in the summer.

Manchester City & Liverpool keen on Levi Colwill transfer

This was revealed by the Evening Standard as Chelsea may look to sell plenty of homegrown players to fulfil FFP regulations, as they are being monitored by UEFA over spending in the region of £600 million in January.

As a result, the sale of homegrown players like the 20-year-old would be deemed as ‘pure profit’ under UEFA’s sustainability rules, with the club also at risk of missing out on in excess of TV money worth £90 million due to failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Keeping an eye on this situation, Manchester City are seemingly interested in a transfer for Levi Colwill, as it is claimed that Pep Guardiola is ready to let Aymeric Laporte leave in the summer.

Liverpool are also in need to boost their homegrown quota, which is one of their driving factors behind trying to to sign the Cobham graduate next season.

It has previously been reported that Barcelona are weighing up a transfer for Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte, as Levi Colwill could now potentially come through the door.

MCN View: Levi Colwill would make for an excellent purchase

For starters, Pep Guardiola’s men are in the hunt for a treble, while Jurgen Klopp and Co. are languishing in 8th place in the league, which makes a potential transfer tug-of-war a mismatch between both sides.

Besides that, Levi Colwill would make for an incredible transfer purchase for Manchester City, as he too is left-footed, an intelligent reader of the game possesses technical traits like Aymeric Laporte.

Colwill has made quite an impression on loan at Brighton and at such a young age, not only would he be a smart successor to Laporte and could develop into an elite defender under Guardiola’s guidance.
