It has been reported that Manchester City maestro Ilkay Gundogan is on the verge of agreeing to a transfer to Barcelona in the summer.
This comes from Mundo Deportivo, after it was claimed on Sunday that the £20 million (Guardian) man told his inner circle after City’s treble parade that he intends to join Xavi’s side.
Now, it seems like a move to Barcelona is on the cards for Ilkay Gundogan, who may be readying himself to bid farewell to Manchester City.

Now, it has been claimed that his representatives had informed Barcelona that where Ilkay Gundogan is somewhere along the lines of being ‘close to saying yes’ to a move to the Spotify Nou Camp.
The treble-winning skipper was ‘convinced’ about the transfer after having a conversation with Xavi, as he has handed his verbal agreement about penning a three-year contract.

If Ilkay Gundogan does end up signing for Barcelona, that could be a major red flag for Manchester City come next season.
With Bernardo Silva also primed to leave the Etihad Stadium, the midfielders that will come in to replace both will have a tall task on their hands.
Focusing on Gundogan himself, any midfielder that is tasked with not just controlling a game but being a threat in the final whilst having to acclimatise to Guardiola’s system could be in for a hellish debut campaign.
As a result, the English giants should stay persistent and do everything in their power to ensure he stays put at the club for at least one more season.
