Man City transfer news: Report shares intriguing new Kyle Walker to Bayern update

It has been reported that Bayern Munich are starting to believe that Kyle Walker is only using the links to them to leverage a new contract at Manchester City.

This comes from Kicker, after it was reported on Thursday that the £50 million (Guardian) man was set to be offered a two-year contract extension by Pep Guardiola’s men.

It seems like Bayern Munich have now become sceptical about their prospects of completing a transfer for Kyle Walker after all.

Bayern Munich now question whether Kyle Walker is actually just hoping for new Manchester City contract

The 33-year-old, branded as an ‘elite performer’ by The Athletic was reported to place a priority over staying put at the Etihad Stadium than leaving for any other club.

Unsurprisingly so, considering City are the best team in the world, who have just come off the back of winning the treble and also have the one and only Pep Guardiola at their disposal for another two years for now.

As a result, it has been reported that there is a ‘certain sense of scepticism’ in the Bayern Munich camp that Kyle Walker may be using his potential move to them as a strategy to earn a new contract at Manchester City.

This is a worry for Thomas Tuchel’s side as he has been viewed as a replacement for Benjamin Pavard, who has expressed his desire to depart in the hopes of playing as a centre-back at another top club.

Keeping Kyle Walker for another season should be the priority

With Ilkay Gundogan having left Manchester City, the loss of another club legend and leader in Kyle Walker to Bayern Munich would be far from ideal.

Plus, it does help City that every time they come up against an elite side, they can bank on the England international to keep one of the best wingers in the world quiet.

Walker’s mastery of 1v1 situations makes him a cheat code of a presence for the Sky Blues, as he showcased by taming Vinicius Jr. in the Champions League semi-final last season.

To have the decorated right-back on their books for at least one more season, so that Rico Lewis is given more time to succeed him would be a dream scenario for City.
