Manchester City know how sensitive Jeremy Doku is – and the Belgian could now face a spell on the sidelines.

Well, the story states that Manchester City’s No.11 will undergo medical examinations to determine the extent of the injury suffered in Sunday’s 3-3 draw against Tottenham.
Doku started the thriller against Spurs, but only lasted 52 minutes before pulling up with a problem – Jack Grealish then came on to replace him.
The Belgium international could be seen holding the back of his right leg – just above the knee – when speaking to Pep Guardiola, and HLN have now shared some more details about the issue.
It is said that Manchester City knew the “sensitivities” of Doku when signing him in a £55.5m deal from Rennes in August, as he endured a number of injury problems in France.
HLN even – quite brutally – add that the Belgian’s first injury at Manchester City can now be “ticked off” as if to suggest it will become a regular occurrence.
Jeremy Doku unlikely to be a problem for Pep Guardiola
In our view, HLN have exaggerated Doku’s injury history – it is unlikely to be a major concern to Guardiola.
Transfermarkt shows that the 21-year-old missed 11 games last season through injury, which is a fairly normal amount in this day and age, given the sheer volume of fixtures.
The main concern would be the 2021/22 campaign, in which Doku missed 39 games due to a number of niggles, mainly regarding his hamstring.
Had Manchester City signed the Borgerhout-born winger straight after that 2021/22 campaign, then alarm bells would quite rightly be ringing, although his 2022/23 season should ease any fears about the current injury, as should the club’s impressive background checks when recruiting new players.
