David Ornstein has said that Manchester City will look at landing a summer transfer deal for Pedro Neto.

Even though the January transfer window is still open, one journalist has named a player that the Manchester club could be looking to sign once the next summer window opens for business.

Ornstein says Neto will be on City’s transfer radar

During a recent online Q&A on The Athletic, Ornstein had this to say when asked if City will sign any big names in the summer transfer window.

He said: It’s fair to expect a busy summer at City, Oliver, especially given there are no senior arrivals anticipated this month. A lot will depend on how Kevin De Bruyne returns from his injury lay-off and what he and the club decide to do on his contract, which expires in 2025.

“He is critical to their system and, regardless of the injury and contract, he is 32, so both parties will need to start thinking seriously about the future. Aside from that, I’m constantly hearing another winger is on the agenda. With Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku their options on the left and Phil Foden tipped to play a more central role going forward — plus the constant uncertainty about Bernardo Silva — that right side appears to be the area of focus.

“Players such as Pedro Neto will be on City’s radar.”

Wolves signed the 23-year-old during the 2019 summer transfer window from Lazio and have since gone on to see the winger make 123 appearances for the Midlands club in all competitions.

Across those appearances, the Portuguese international, who Jamie Carragher once said could become a “superstar” in the Premier League, has scored 12 goals and delivered 22 assists for his current side.

Eight of those assists have come during Wolves’ first 10 Premier League games of this current season, which highlights how much of a creative and dangerous attacking player he is.

In addition to that, the attacker has the joint-highest total of goal-creating actions (9) and carries into the penalty area (25) at Wolves, as well as making more passes into the penalty area (20) than any of his teammates.

All of that makes it easy to suggest that the Old Gold would not be too keen to sell Neto this summer, especially since his current contract at Molineux isn’t set to expire until 2027.

Taking all of that into account, if City are in the market for a winger in the summer, adding Neto to their ranks could be an exciting acquisition for the Manchester club.
