It has been reported that unless either Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva or Matheus Nunes leave the club, Manchester City will not sign one midfielder this summer.

Having won four Premier League titles in a row, it will be intriguing to discover Manchester City’s strategy in the transfer market.

Whether Pep Guardiola’s men intend to go out on the aggressive, strengthen some key areas of their squad or leave their squad as it is will be interesting to see.

Currently, their midfielders like De Bruyne, Bernardo and Nunes are busy representing their countries at Euro 2024.

The conditions in place for Man City to go for Bruno Guimaraes transfer

As a result, it seems unlikely that either of the midfield trident will be thinking about their futures at the Etihad Stadium.

Instead, they will be hoping that Belgium and Portugal can go as far as possible in the tournament.

According to a report by ESPN’s Rob Dawson, Manchester City will only make a move for Bruno Guimaraes if either of De Bruyne, Bernardo or Nunes leave the club in the summer.

However, as reported in May, they do not value the 26-year-old, who Newcastle United intend to keep as a £100 million player — which is the value of his release clause.

The report further states that Manchester City do not intend to make a major summer signing unless a player informs the club of his desire to leave and their valuation is met by another side.

Furthermore, key players like Ederson, De Bruyne and Bernardo are believed not to have told the club that they desire an exit from East Manchester.

The Sky Blues will look to offload Joao Cancelo and Kalvin Phillips and their preference remains permanent sales rather than loan deals. If both players leave, the report states that the English giants will not feel the need to replace them.

Dangerous way of assessing the Bruno Guimaraes move

Considering Guimaraes can provide cover as both a holding midfielder and as a number eight, it seems risky for Manchester City to potentially be open to the chance of missing out on his signature.

While Nunes is just 25, De Bruyne is 32 and Bernardo is 29.

Signing a younger player like Guimaraes would be a brilliant way for City to refresh their squad ahead of the 2024/2025 campaign.

It is also key for top clubs like City to add top players like the Brazilian to their squad season after season to ensure the desire to win remains sky-high.
