Manchester City have shown that they are not against selling some of their players if a suitable offer comes their way.
Looking back over the recent summer transfer window, City sold the likes of Julian Alvarez, Liam Delap, Sergio Gomez and Joao Cancelo.
Shortly after the summer window closed, another figure in Pep Guardiola’s ranks was linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium.

Man City should not consider selling Mateo Kovacic
Earlier this week, it was reported that Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Nassr have identified Mateo Kovacic as a transfer target and could look to launch a move for the City midfielder in the upcoming January transfer window.
Back in the 2023 summer transfer window, City paid £25m to sign the midfielder from fellow Premier League side Chelsea.
Appearing in 46 games across all competitions in his debut season at the Manchester club, 30 of which he started, Kovacic won his first-ever Premier League trophy, helping City win their sixth in seven years.
This season has seen the Croatian start all of City’s matches so far, completing the full 90 minutes in all but one of them.
Selling Kovacic in January would be a big mistake for City
Having played such a prominent role in the City team so far this season, it would be a mistake for them to sell one of their important assets midway through a season where they have a lot of games to play across a range of domestic and European competitions.
With all of that in mind, it’s clear that Guardiola has relied on Kovacic in the early stages of this season and will likely need him throughout the season, especially if City want to get their hands on as much silverware as they can.
Therefore, if a bid from Al-Nassr, or any other club comes City’s way in January for Kovacic, they should have no doubts about keeping hold of him.
