Manchester City have signed an “unbelievable” player who will be a “huge loss” to the club he has left, according to his previous manager.

The Citizens have had a busy summer on the transfer front, bringing in a host of top players and exciting talents to strengthen their ranks.

Manchester City have landed the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma, Rayan Cherki and Rayan Ait-Nouri this summer.

As one of the biggest clubs in the world, City can sign the best players out there, which invariably leads to their former managers being disappointed.

Scott Parker says James Trafford exit is a ‘huge loss’ for Burnley

Burnley manager Scott Parker was interviewed by Stadium Astro this week, and one of the questions he was asked related to James Trafford.

Man City opted to re-sign Trafford this summer, just two years after they sold him to Burnley.

The Citizens had a buy-back clause for Trafford and also matching rights, allowing them to equal any offer from another club.

As a result, Burnley have found themselves without the keeper who played a huge part in their promotion campaign, and Parker is understandably unhappy.

“Any team losing James Trafford is going to be a huge loss,” said Parker. “He was unbelievable for us last year. A top quality keeper.

“For a large part, at certain moments, he was someone we could rely on. He kept it out of the net along with everyone else in the team.

“For sure, James will be a big miss for us, but we wish him nothing but all the best in the next part of his journey.”

The goalkeeping dilemma that has now arisen at Manchester City

Trafford rejoined City to much fanfare, as he is a superb young keeper who has shown he can reach a very high level after his Burnley heroics.

Trafford will likely have expected to compete with Ederson with a view to dethroning him, or at the very least taking over as No. 1 when he left.

However, the footballing gods had other ideas, with Gianluigi Donnarumma suddenly becoming available as Paris Saint-Germain opted to bring someone else in.

City duly signed Donnarumma and Ederson left for Fenerbahce, meaning Trafford now has to compete with the best goalkeeper in the world, who is just four years older than him.

Plenty of fans and pundits feel Trafford has been hard done by this development.
