Manchester City are no strangers when it comes to signing players from other Premier League clubs.

Since Pep Guardiola took charge of City back in 2016, the Blues have secured transfer deals for the likes of Kyle Walker, Jack Grealish, John Stones, Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes, among others, from several top-flight sides.

Even though another summer transfer window has been and gone, some behind-the-scenes information has come to light regarding another current Premier League player who has found himself on the Manchester club’s radar.

Man City have checked on Marc Guehi’s future

A recent report from the Daily Mail said this about Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi and what the future could hold for him following heavy links to Newcastle United in the recent summer window.

It said: “Guehi is in a strong position. With under two years left on his deal, the prospect of securing a money-spinning Bosman transfer is on the horizon. Why would he give that up?

“At a cut-price fee, many of the Premier League’s top clubs will view Guehi as a golden opportunity.

“Manchester City, for example, have already checked on how Guehi’s future may develop.”

Guehi could become a top player

After working his way through the youth ranks at Chelsea and having a couple of loan spells at Swansea City, the defender joined Palace back in the 2021 summer transfer window.

Since then, the Englishman has made 115 appearances for the Eagles across all competitions, chipping in with five goals and two assists.

Having started six of England’s seven matches in the 2024 European Championship, Guehi, who said back in June that he is a big admirer of Kyle Walker, then found himself being heavily linked with Newcastle.

However, the Tyneside club were unable to secure a deal for the 24-year-old, who Palace reportedly wanted £70m (via The Telegraph) for.

Now that City are reportedly keeping their eyes on Guehi’s future, this shows that they admire the defender as a player and potentially see him as a possible transfer target in the future.
