Manchester City could now do something they have never done under Pep Guardiola – it last happened in 2016.
The statistic was made apparent by the BBC in their preview of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Brighton at the Etihad Stadium.
So, what could Manchester City do? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well – if Manchester City lose to Brighton – it would signal the first time Guardiola has ever lost three successive Premier League games since taking the reins at the Etihad Stadium.
It last happened under Manuel Pellegrini back in March 2016.

Manchester City – of course – suffered consecutive defeats against Wolves and Arsenal in the Premier League, before the international break spared the treble winners from further anguish.
There was also a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup Third Round before that loss at Molineux, so it really hasn’t been a great time for Guardiola of late.
Hopefully, Manchester City can put this uncharacteristic run behind them by picking up three points against Brighton on Saturday.
Manchester City could set a Premier League record
On the other hand, Manchester City have a chance to make Premier League history with a win.
The BBC mention that Manchester City have won 20 games in a row at the Etihad Stadium across all competitions, and are therefore just one victory away from setting a new outright record.
At the moment, Manchester City are tied with Manchester United, who won 20 games in a row at Old Trafford from December 2010 to September 2011.

Therefore, Saturday’s clash against Brighton really could go either way as far as the history books are concerned.
Be sure to tune in as Guardiola meets Roberto De Zerbi once again – it is sure to be a highly entertaining spectacle between two of the best footballing sides in the Premier League.
