Manchester City could now sign Ajax wonderkid Gabriel Misehouy on a free transfer.

That is according to Algemeen Dagblad in the Netherlands.

So, what is the situation involving Manchester City and Gabriel Misehouy? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, it is said that Ajax are struggling to agree a new contract with the 18-year-old sensation.

There is a desperate urgency surrounding the situation for the Dutch giants, as Misehouy’s current terms expire at the end of the season, meaning he will be allowed to leave for free if nothing changes.

In fact, the teenager can even agree a pre-contract deal with another club as soon as January if Ajax fail to make any progress this month, and also in December.

Algemeen Dagblad interestingly add that the situation has “not become easier” as Manchester City are now sniffing around.

Misehouy has impressively scored five goals in just eight appearances for Jong Ajax this season in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, and was even named on the bench for the Eredivisie clash against FC Twente.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise whatsoever to see Manchester City monitoring the Netherlands Under-19 international.

Who is Manchester City target Gabriel Misehouy?

It is encouraging to hear that Manchester City are on red alert when it comes to Misehouy’s contract situation, as he is a player in possession of star potential.

The Amsterdam-born sensation has even been included in the Guardian’s coveted Next Generation list, which focuses on the 60 best talents on the planet.

Within Misehouy’s section, it is said that “connoisseurs of the game” call him a “wonderkid” while his brothers also describe their sibling as a “diamond” – high praise indeed.

In terms of profile, the Dutchman is a versatile No.10 who can also operate out wide, and seems to possess strong leadership skills having captained Ajax’s Under-21 side at times.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Manchester City could secure Misehouy for free if Ajax fail to make progress in contract negotiations.
