After Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola confirmed that Erling Haaland is available to face Burnley after nursing a stress-related injury, the club’s fans rejoiced online.
Despite all the buzz that has surrounded Kevin De Bruyne’s return from injury, City have also been missing his partner-in-crime up top in the 23-year-old for the last eight games in all competitions through injury.
Even ahead of the Sky Blues’ 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur as recently as on Friday, Pep Guardiola confirmed that the Norwegian international was not in a “perfect” state to even make the cut for his matchday squad.

But in his latest press conference, Pep Guardiola confirmed that Manchester City talisman Erling Haaland was set to be fit to face Burnley at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.
“First time, he [Erling Haaland” is back. We have all the squad, we are stronger. He is an important player for us”, he said [via Manchester City’s official Twitter account].
Whether Pep Guardiola will persist with Julian Alvarez as his starting striker against Burnley or bring Erling Haaland into the mix remains a doubt.
Risking the former Borussia Dortmund frontman’s fitness would not be particularly ideal for City but simultaneously, the Sky Blues are missing his goal threat in their attack.
