Manchester City fans have shown their appreciation for West Ham United star Tomas Soucek, after he was filmed avoiding walking over the club’s crest.
The Czech Republic international was seen getting off the Hammers’ team bus and then making sure to avoid walking directly over the badge, which is sprayed onto the ground just before the players’ entrance to the Etihad Stadium.
Soucek is known for being a very likable individual as well as being a great footballer, and the footage would further reinforce that feeling.
Some have suggested Soucek may have acted out of superstition.
But the 26-year-old is very much about class and respect, and his actions drew a lot of praise from City fans on social media.
Thankfully for Pep Guardiola, this was the biggest reason for Soucek’s name doing the rounds on Twitter yesterday.
Despite a valiant effort from the Irons, they were unable to deny City a 20th straight victory, and Soucek was unable to grab his ninth goal of the season.
The £19 million signing from Slavia Prague has proven to be an excellent addition for David Moyes, and to keep him quiet is no easy feat.
Here’s what some City fans had to say after seeing his act of class before the game:
