Manchester City fans have been reacting to the performance of Raheem Sterling for Chelsea in today’s 4-4 draw.

City looked as though they were going to edge the Blues at Stamford Bridge, with a deflected Rodri strike giving the visitors a late advantage. But Cole Palmer, sold by City for £42.5 million just a couple of months ago, equalised right at the death from the penalty spot.

The contest was a fascinating encounter, with the hosts offering a genuinely strong challenge down in west London.

It was end-to-end at times, and arguably a draw was a fair result.

It was interesting to watch the two City old boys on show today. Cole Palmer enjoyed a pretty good display in his first appearance against his former club. Jamie Carragher said that he had been ‘brilliant’ on his first appearance against his old club.

There was also a lively showing from Raheem Sterling.

Sterling grabbed Chelsea’s second goal of the evening, and it was very much the kind of goal City fans saw many times during his stint at the Etihad – arriving at the back post for a simple finish.

Sterling has had a bit of an up-and-down spell at Chelsea since signing for the club for £50 million.

But on the whole this season he’s been good for the Blues. Today, he was a real thorn at times, and gave Kyle Walker a real test.
