Some Manchester City fans were taken aback this evening seeing how fast Matheus Nunes was against Red Star Belgrade.
City were in Serbia tonight, finishing off their Champions League campaign having already sealed qualification as group winners.
Pep Guardiola made a number of changes in order to get a look at some of his fringe players.
There were starts for the likes of Sergio Gomez, Kalvin Phillips, Mateo Kovacic, Oscar Bobb and Rico Lewis and there was also a debut for Micah Hamilton.
Despite City not being at full strength, the team managed to get the job done in the end, winning 3-2.
Young Hamilton took his goal superbly well and looks to be yet another very exciting talent emerging from the academy.
It was good to see Matheus Nunes get some minutes under his belt, having found opportunities hard to come by of late.
The Portuguese midfielder has been on the periphery at the Etihad Stadium since his move from Wolves in the summer, and is yet to convince some sections of the fanbase.
It was important for him to make an impactful display tonight – and Nunes definitely looked pretty good in midfield.
He linked up well with Kovacic and Phillips, and looked to carry the ball into the final third where he could.
There was a moment in only the first minute of the game that had a lot of City fans in awe on social media.

With the game not even two minutes old, Nunes wowed some City fans when he collected the ball around the halfway line and knocked it forward down the right wing.
He absolutely blitzed past the defender and strode into the Red Star box.
Sadly, he couldn’t quite find a teammate with his final pass, but it was an amazing show of pace to get into a dangerous position.
Nunes is actually very, very quick. Last season when he was at Wolves, he was actually clocked as the fastest midfielder in the Premier League, having been clocked doing 36.32 km/h.
