Manchester City may not have had the best of seasons, but the building blocks are already being put in place so they can return to the top.

Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis, Savinho and Juma Bah have all arrived at the Etihad Stadium this season.

In addition, the Manchester City Under-21s team is flying at the moment as they sit top of the Premier League 2 table.

City fans have now been praising one of the players in the U21s squad after he picked up an award on Friday.

Manchester City fans hail February’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month Divin Mubama

The player in question is Divin Mubama, who has won February’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.

The 20-year-old claimed five goals and two assists in February to help City remain top of the table and confirm their place in the knockout stage of the competition.

One fan wrote on X: “Mubama cooking in the reserves. First team call-up loading. Talent pipeline still elite.”

Another fan said: “This guy’s movement is impressive, every time I see him play he wants to be so involved in the build up and he contributes defensively also.

“I’d love to see him and Haaland play more games together.”

The praise for Mubama kept coming, with one supporter saying: “Well deserved! A rising star in the making.”

One fan wrote “he’s rising star, a talented player”, while another said “in the moment of our struggles, I just look at our future and I smile with happiness.”

One fan even suggested Mubama should be in the seniors, saying: “Genuinely should get more minutes than Marmoush, he should be Haaland’s actual number 2.”

How Divin Mubama has fared since joining Manchester City

Mubama joined City from West Ham United in the summer and is currently splitting his time between the U21s and the senior squad.

The England Under-20 international has made two senior outings to date for City.

He made his Premier League debut off the bench against Ipswich Town and also played the full 90 minutes – and scored – in the FA Cup rout of Salford City.

Mubama has also made seven appearances at youth level for City, of which six have come in the Premier League 2 and one in the EFL Trophy.

He has seven goals and four assists to his name in the Under-21s top flight, which suggests it shouldn’t be long until he becomes a regular in the senior team.
