Manchester City fans have been expressing their dismay over the news that one of their players has suffered an injury on international duty.

The Citizens have had a nightmare start to the season, losing two of their three Premier League games and suffering a number of injury worries.

Manchester City are set to host rivals Manchester United in this weekend’s derby and could have 10 or more players missing for the match.

The international break is often a cause for concern for club coaches and fans, due to the risk of injury and fatigue.

And now, another City player has been injured, prompting City fans to bemoan their bad luck.

Manchester City fans sweating over Omar Marmoush’s knee injury

On Tuesday, Egypt contested a World Cup qualifier at Burkina Faso, with the match finishing goalless.

However, Omar Marmoush was brought down by Mohamed Zougrana after just four minutes, and he was seen clutching his knee.

The tackle occurred in the fourth minute, but Marmoush did not leave the pitch until the ninth minute, and he was spotted with a bandage after the game.

Although Egyptian football journalist Ismael Mahmoud reported that the feeling within the Egypt camp is that Marmoush’s injury isn’t serious, that didn’t allay the City fans’ fears.

“Watch some City source come out and say he’s out for 2 months,” one fan wrote on X.

Another supporter said: “So he’ll be out for 6-9 months then minimum. I don’t think City have ever had a short term injury.”

The worried comments kept coming, with one fan saying: “Begging for it not to be serious.”

Another claimed that “this looks serious”, and another similarly worried that “this is damn serious”.

Another said: “So, it looks like Marmoush might be injured? Ugh, this is the worst timing ever!

“Hopefully it isn’t a serious injury.”

Manchester City’s other injuries and injury worries

Marmoush – who Gary Likener once called “invaluable” – is just one of numerous injury worries for Man City ahead of the derby.

John Stones, Phil Foden, Savinho, Josko Gvardiol, Abdukodir Khusanov and Marcus Bettinelli are also injury doubts ahead of the weekend clash against Manchester United.

Meanwhile, City also have several long-term absentees in Mateo Kovacic, Rayan Cherki and Kalvin Phillips.
