Manchester City continued their stunning winning run last night, beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
The Citizens opened the scoring in the first-half with Leander Dendoncker putting into his own net, but Conor Coady hit back for the visitors on the hour-mark with Wolves’ first attack of the game.
But City recovered to score three times in the final 15 minutes to keep the ball rolling and go 15 points clear at the top of the table.
All in all, it was a comfortable evening’s work for City and there were plenty of positives to take once again.
But there is one man whom last night wasn’t so great for.
Full-back Benjamin Mendy was left out of the matchday squad by Pep Guardiola, and there have been no reports of any injury.
The £90,000-a-week Frenchman (Spotrac) hasn’t made a Premier League appearance since December, and last night’s snub could well be ominous.
The form of Joao Cancelo this season has been outstanding, and Oleksandr Zinchenko has also been very good.
There are some great options for the left-back position right now – with Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake also able to lend a hand – and some City fans believe that Guardiola might have given up on Mendy, who became the world’s most expensive defender at the time of his £52 million move (BBC Sport):
Benjamin Mendy is finito.
Sad to see him flop, injuries ruined him but it’s time to move on

Surely he is finished?

Time is up at City

I would suggest Mendy knows his time is up at the end of the season . Two serious injuries have ruined his career at City and he needs a fresh start .

I think he’s done at the club!

He is gone

Not looking good for him really.

Most likely will be gone by the end of this season. Exceptional talent got wasted due to injuries, really wished he could have done more for the team.
