Manchester City fans urge Pep to turn to Liam Delap amid stunning U23s form

A number of Manchester City fans are urging Pep Guardiola to give talented young striker Liam Delap more chances within the first-team.

The starlet, who recently turned 18, has been in remarkable form for the U23s this term, scoring 16 goals in just 13 PL2 Division 1 matches.

His latest strike came against West Ham United yesterday in a 5-0 win, and was an absolutely ruthless finish from inside the area.

He had support to his left and other players might have slid the ball across for an easy tap in.

But Delap made no mistake as he fired confidently into the far corner.

This season, as good as the City first-team have been in front of goal again, some people have questioned whether Gabriel Jesus is ruthless enough.

The Brazilian is superb at linking play and fantastic at pressing, but is sometimes let down by his finishing.

Guardiola has often turned to Jesus this term in Sergio Aguero’s absence, but in a lot of people’s eyes, he hasn’t convinced.

With Delap shining for the U23s, some are now hoping to see him get more minutes in the first-team, after making his debut in September against Leicester City.

Potentially that could happen if City are able to wrap up the league title with games to spare.
