Garth Crooks lavished praise upon Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker after his side’s 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest.

In his BBC Team of the Week, the outspoken pundit named the £50 million (Guardian) man.

It’s safe to say that Garth Crooks was impressed by Kyle Walker, who shone for a 10-man Manchester City side as they defeated Nottingham Forest.

Garth Crooks says Manchester City defender Kyle Walker could win Footballer of The Year award after Nottingham Forest win

Branded as ‘truly exceptional’ by Paul Lake, the 33-year-old assisted Phil Foden’s cracking opener on Saturday.

Darting past Forest’s backline to get on the end of a stunning raking pass from Rodri, Walker’s deft touch set up Foden’s strike.

After Manchester City beat Nottingham Forest, Garth Crooks showered Kyle Walker with praise and had him down as a candidate to potentially win an individual award this season.

“The desire by Walker to yet again get in behind the opposition defence and then watch a 40-yard pass from Rodri fall out of the sky onto his foot for the perfect volleyed lay-off for Phil Foden to finish was football at its finest.”

“Walker has started the season for club and country like a dream. I said last week, the City captain is my early candidate for footballer of the year and we’re only in September. More candidates are sure to follow but Walker’s the only one on my list so far.”

Kyle Walker could well be a candidate

As Kyle Walker was top-drawer for Manchester City against Nottingham Forest once again, Garth Crooks has made an interesting point about him potentially being up for the award.

Usually, attack-minded players tend to scoop up such individual awards.

However, if Walker continues to turn heads operating in this wider role he has occupied in possession this season, he could certainly be in the conversation.

Considering the fact that the veteran is the best defensive full-back in the world, if his attacking game continues to improve, it would be impossible not to at least put him in contention.
