Manchester City insiders think 21-year-old is similar to Phil Foden, he is currently out on loan

Manchester City insiders rate Maximo Perrone highly – and feel the Argentine is similar to Phil Foden in one particular aspect.

That is according to The Athletic.

So, what do Manchester City insiders think of Maximo Perrone? Let’s take a look…

What those at Manchester City think of Maximo Perrone

Well – according to The Athletic – Manchester City insiders were left very impressed by the South American in training last season.

Staff are said to have been particularly taken aback by Perrone’s ability in the pockets – the areas in between defensive lines – and it was suggested that he is one of the club’s better players in those positions, along with Foden.

The 21-year-old has since been loaned to Las Palmas, and there is a specific reason for that.

According to The Athletic, Manchester City still doubt whether Perrone is strong enough – and quick enough – to play in the Premier League, so he has been loaned to Las Palmas to work on those traits.

The Buenos Aires-born talent has made 19 appearances on loan at Las Palmas, and hopefully, he returns to Manchester City as a much stronger physical presence.

Maximo Perrone could soon get a chance under Pep Guardiola

Interestingly, The Athletic have previously claimed that Pep Guardiola actually called Perrone to convince him to join Manchester City.

That would suggest the Spaniard rates the Argentina U20 international very highly, and there could soon be an opening for the youngster at the Etihad Stadium.

Kalvin Phillips is set to join West Ham on loan, with the east Londoners holding an option to buy the England international for £34m this summer.

Guardiola has also confirmed that Manchester City are unlikely to sign a replacement for the Yorkshireman in midfield, which opens the door for Perrone to make an impact this summer if things go well at Las Palmas.
