Jamie Carragher has said that he would be petrified of playing against Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland, much like Arsenal and their centre-backs were in their 4-1 defeat.

The £51.2 million (Eurosport) man was a man possessed in the title showdown, picking up a goal and a pair of assists.

Jamie Carragher admitted that he too would be fearful of facing Erling Haaland, especially after seeing him star for Manchester City against Arsenal.

What Carragher said about Haaland as Manchester City beat Arsenal

The Liverpool legend lauded the 22-year-old’s showing as ‘one of his performances’ in a sky blue shirt, as he put in all-round performance worth applauding.

Aside from putting the ball into the back of the net, Haaland’s hold-up play, first touch, passing ability and neat dribbling were traits that stunned the world, as he is usually characterised as a poacher.

Jamie Carragher was awestruck by how impactful Manchester City goalscorer Erling Haaland was at the Etihad Stadium, admitting that he would be as wary of playing up against him as the Arsenal defenders.

“The Arsenal centre backs are terrified of Haaland! (So would I be!)”, he said on Twitter.

The Norwegian hitman is already one of the greatest goalscorers the game has ever seen and as time passes, this opinion will be far from seen as an unpopular one.

And as a striker, the fact that Haaland scores goals at the rate that he does should be universally lauded.

But as Jamie Carragher implied, on a day where Erling Haaland was not at his ruthless best in front of goal, his performance was devastating to the extent that the Arsenal defenders seemed genuinely scared of him.

The way the ex-Borussia Dortmund forward linked play, brought others into play, created chances for his teammates and dominated the centre-backs was the textbook centre-forward display.
