Manchester City now expect Sergio Gomez to return to full fitness after the international break.

That is according to the Manchester Evening News.

So, what is the latest on Sergio Gomez at Manchester City? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Spaniard damaged his ankle during a recent training session at the City Football Academy.

The Manchester Evening News state that Gomez did not actually make contact with a teammate, leading the Citizens to initially fear that he would be out for longer.

Manchester City’s No.21 was consequently ruled out of Saturday’s 6-1 win over Bournemouth, but did arrive at the Etihad Stadium on crutches to watch his teammates.

Now – however – the injury is not as bad as first feared following an assessment.

The Manchester Evening News believe Pep Guardiola is now expecting Gomez to be back in action after the upcoming international break, and he should be available for the Premier League clash against Liverpool on Saturday 25th November.

Manchester City receive more positive news amid Sergio Gomez update

It is good to hear that Gomez won’t be missing for long – that is also not the only positive injury news emerging from the Etihad Stadium.

Erling Haaland was forced off at half-time during Saturday’s win over Bournemouth after also damaging his ankle.

However, the Norway international was seen in training earlier on Monday ahead of Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash against BSC Young Boys, jogging and playfully chasing his teammates as revealed by Joe Bray of the Manchester Evening News.

That suggests Haaland’s injury is not as bad as some might have feared, which will surely come as a huge relief to Guardiola and the Manchester City fans.

Hopefully, the treble winners can avoid any more injuries ahead of what is a very busy festive schedule – including a FIFA Club World Cup tournament in Saudi Arabia.
