Manchester City now really want to sign Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig in 2024 – a player Pep Guardiola adores.

That is according to Mundo Deportivo.

So, what is the latest on Dani Olmo and Manchester City? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, Guardiola appears to be a huge fan of the Spain international.

A separate story from Mundo Deportivo even claimed that Manchester City were going to make a move for Olmo if Bernardo Silva left the Etihad Stadium over the summer.

That did not materialise, but Guardiola remains keen on a deal for his fellow Spaniard, who is aiming to leave RB Leipzig for a step up in 2024.

Mundo Deportivo believe Olmo wants to join a bigger club, and now has a release clause worth €60m (£52m) written into his contract – a sum Manchester City can afford.

The Spanish news outlet actually mention that Manchester City are the side most interested in the RB Leipzig No.7 – with Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid also very keen on his signature.

Olmo has enjoyed a superb start to the 2023/24 campaign with five goals in just four appearances so far.

Pep Guardiola has openly praised Manchester City target Dani Olmo

Guardiola has made no secret of his admiration for Olmo in the past.

The 52-year-old once said the RB Leipzig No.7 has an “incredible work ethic” after watching him play for Spain at the Under-21 European Championships back in 2019.

Guardiola told Calciomercato: “He was in the youth of Barcelona and normally someone who plays there is a good player. He was one of the best players of the European Under-21s (which Spain won) with his incredible work ethic.”

Could 2024 be the year Guardiola finally gets to work with Olmo? Only time will tell, so be sure to keep an eye on this situation.
