Manchester City now told to pay £78m for Guardiola target after holding talks

Manchester City have now been told how much it will cost to sign Pep Guardiola target Leny Yoro from Lille.

The figure was revealed by le10sport in France.

So, what is the latest on Manchester City target Leny Yoro? Let’s take a look…

Leny Yoro update

Well, it was le10sport who claimed that Manchester City recently opened talks to sign the 18-year-old.

The French news outlet added that Manchester United were also in negotiations.

Now – according to an update from le10sport – Lille want €90m (£78m) to sell the defender in 2024.

It is said that PSG and Liverpool are also looking to sign Yoro, and Lille presumably feel they can spark a bidding war by announcing a £78m price tag.

Of course, a deal could potentially be agreed for under £78m in the summer.

Le10sport believe Lille have placed the astronomical valuation on Yoro after receiving enquiries about a deal in January – something the Ligue 1 outfit have no desire to entertain.

The teenager has been a revelation for Lille so far this season, scoring three goals in 21 appearances to cement himself in the starting XI.

Price tag should put Manchester City off

While Manchester City are one of few clubs who could actually afford to meet this asking price, the Citizens must avoid doing so.

Yoro still has a lot to prove, and it would represent a major gamble to spend £78m on an 18-year-old with just 37 senior club appearances to his name.

After all, Manchester City only recently spent £77.6m on Josko Gvardiol, who is still finding his feet at the Etihad Stadium.

Gary Neville believes the Croatian has struggled.

Therefore, it would make sense to focus on Gvardiol and ensure the Croatia international gets up to speed with life in the Premier League, before splashing another huge fee on a second defensive prospect.
