Manchester City are set to play their first game at the Etihad Stadium of the 2024/2025 Premier League season against the newly-promoted Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Off the back of their 2-0 win against Chelsea, it will be interesting to see whether Pep Guardiola makes any changes.

Largely, City put in a solid display with their players looking sharp and ready to contest a fifth league title in a row.

Kieran McKenna’s side will be hoping to spring a surprise against the champions of England after their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool.

However, Ipswich Town will have the daunting task of travelling to the Etihad Stadium to play their first away fixture of the season.

Ahead of Manchester City’s upcoming contest, the £378,846-a-week manager could make just one change to his side.

Man City predicted line-up vs Ipswich Town

Especially after kickstarting the new Premier League season with a clean sheet, Ederson Moraes is expected to keep his place in between the sticks against Ipswich Town.

Pep Guardiola heaped praise on Rico Lewis after his starring display against Chelsea and the youngster could be in line for another start based on his exploits at Stamford Bridge.

The same could apply to Manuel Akanji and Ruben Dias, who put in a pair of rock-solid displays to keep a dangerous Blues attack at bay and as a result, they could retain their places in the side as well.

At left-back, Josko Gvardiol impressed yet again with his stellar defending, incisive passing and composure in and out of possession; which could lead to Pep Guardiola fielding an unchanged back four against Kieran McKenna’s side.

Jack Grealish lauded Mateo Kovacic after his masterful display as a holding midfielder against his former club and rightfully so, as he also rounded off his showing in an unnatural position with a brilliant goal.

Journalist Ben Ransom also reported that Rodri was not in training for City on Wednesday, which could indicate he is not ready to start — which could mean Kovacic is set to start at the base of midfield once again.

Bernardo Silva was another player who looked like a class act in the middle of the park and considering he has started the season in promising fashion, he seems likely to start against Ipswich Town as well.

Kevin De Bruyne is always one of the first names on the team sheet for City and especially to ensure he gains rhythm after his extended break during the summer, he could retain his place in the team.

Considering the aforementioned Ben Ransom also revealed that Savinho was “training as normal”, his electric Premier League debut could be rewarded with yet another start on Saturday.

After scoring a decisive opener against Chelsea, Erling Haaland’s chances of starting against Ipswich Town have become even more likely than they already were.

Gary Lineker described Phil Foden as a “remarkable talent” and he could be handed the chance to showcase his brilliant from the very start in his boyhood club’s next league outing.

With Foden playing throughout the entirety of the second half at Stamford Bridge, he could be deemed ready to start, with Jeremy Doku losing his place in the side.
