As Manchester City are set to lock horns with Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup, we have tried to call their predicted lineup.

Coming off the back of their 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest, we expect Pep Guardiola to make as many as six changes to his side.

Manchester City predicted lineup vs Newcastle United

Stefan Ortega could be in line for a start, with Ederson Moraes dropping to the bench in our Manchester City predicted lineup against Newcastle United.

With Pep Guardiola himself confirming that Kyle Walker and Ruben Dias will be rested (via Football Daily) on Wednesday, Rico Lewis could start proceedings against Eddie Howe’s side.

Manuel Akanji is likely to keep his place in our Manchester City predicted lineup.

Due to Ruben Dias looking like he will be handed a breather for his side’s upcoming clash, Nathan Ake could take his place.

At left-back, Josko Gvardiol is expected to retain his place in the team.

With Rodri being suspended for the clash, Kalvin Phillips may finally get his chance to shine in our Manchester City predicted lineup.

Matheus Nunes, who was excellent once again in his side’s 2-0 victory against Forest is unlikely to be dropped as well.

On the right wing, Oscar Bobb, branded as ‘unbelievable’ by Pep Guardiola could make his first competitive start in the Carabao Cup, with Jeremy Doku rested for the contest.

Behind the striker, Phil Foden could keep his place against Newcastle, as he continues his sparkling start to the 2023/2024 season.

On the left flank, Jack Grealish could be set to start proceedings after returning from injury off the bench on Saturday.

Up front, Julian Alvarez could take Erling Haaland’s place as his side’s go-to striker.
