Manchester City have had a very busy summer on the transfer front, signing a host of players and also preparing to let others go.

Some potential player exits, such as that of Jack Grealish, would not be seen as overly surprising, while others, like Nico Gonzalez, would raise some eyebrows.

James McAtee is another player who is set to leave, though in the Manchester City midfielder’s case, the club wanted to keep him, but he has decided to move.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has reported on another talented City midfielder who is now leaving the Etihad Stadium after a deal was struck with Cesc Fabregas’ Como side.

Manchester City sell Maximo Perrone to Como

Romano has taken to X to declare “here we go” on Maximo Perrone to Como, with the two clubs having reached an agreement on Wednesday night.

Perrone was on loan at the Serie A last season, and now they have landed him on a permanent basis for a fee of €13million, or just over £11million.

City originally signed Perrone from Velez Sarsfield for around £8million back in January 2023.

Maximo Perrone capable of displays ‘not seen since the days of Manchester City legend Yaya Toure’

Perrone was a star for Como last season, helping them achieve a comfortable mid-table finish in their first Serie A campaign in 21 years.

The official Como website sang Perrone’s praises a few months ago, describing the Argentine as a “compass” who keeps his side “ticking like a Swiss watch”.

The article also said Perrone is “redefining the midfield dynamics laid out by Cesc Fabregas” and even compared one of his 2024/25 displays to a Yaya Toure masterclass.

They wrote: “In the recent match away to Monza (a 3-1 win for Como in April), Perrone came off the bench and set a record not seen since the days of Manchester City legend Yaya Toure: more than 50 completed passes and at least three chances created in under 30 minutes.

“Moments like these show how easily he can change the course of a match through his vision and passing alone.”
