Manchester City are reportedly still in the race to land a summer transfer move for Jude Bellingham.
The Citizens have been linked with a move for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder, although recent reports have claimed that Real Madrid are closing in on a deal for the player.
However, some fresh details have come to light that suggest Pep Guardiola’s side are still in the frame to land Bellingham’s signature.
According to a recent report from ESPN, City “haven’t given up on signing Bellingham and are ready to pounce as they believe Madrid and Dortmund may be unable to reach a compromise on a fee.”
The report also adds that executives from the Spanish club are set to travel to Germany next week for “face-to-face talks with Dortmund in the hope of making progress on a deal.”
In addition to that, it’s been claimed that Madrid are aware that City have a financial advantage in terms of potentially securing a deal for the Englishman and are relying on the player’s preference to play for the La Liga side.
It would be safe to assume that the financial side of things will be critical in this potential deal, as Dortmund have apparently put a £132m price tag on Bellingham.
The 19-year-old has caught the attention of Guardiola previously, as the City boss claimed the midfielder has a “special mentality” in addition to calling him the “whole package” in terms of his ability on the pitch.
To back up what Guardiola said about the midfielder, he currently tops the list at Dortmund for the number of shots (61), progressive passes (242), shot-creating actions (121), successful tackles (40), blocks (50), progressive carries (91) and recoveries (194) made in the Bundesliga this season.
Moving forward, we feel that City should stay in the race to sign the teenage sensation and do all they can to beat Real to his signature.
