Manchester City target Jarrad Branthwaite has now been rated as the second best youngster in the Premier League this season – behind Jeremy Doku.

It was WhoScored who provided the data.

So, what is the situation involving Jeremy Doku and Jarrad Branthwaite? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Belgium international has easily been the best player in the Premier League this season who is aged 21 or under – he is miles out in front.

WhoScored adjudge Doku to hold an average match rating of 7.34 from his seven appearances in the Premier League so far this term, which is 0.34 more than Branthwaite in second.

It is safe to say that the 21-year-old has been electric since his £55.5m move from Rennes in August.

However, we should not gloss over Branthwaite’s average rating of 7.00 – his performances have been so strong that Manchester City are taking notice, according to the Daily Mail.

The England Under-21 international is believed to have caught the eye of Manchester City after finally breaking into the first-team at Everton.

Branthwaite has shone in his eight Premier League appearances so far this season, particularly with his excellent passing ability and composure from the back, showing exactly why he has been compared to John Stones.

The 21-year-old has also been likened to Declan Rice due to his versatility in being able to operate in midfield too, something that Guardiola surely likes, having moved Stones further forward in recent times.

Jeremy Doku deserves a lot of credit

The Belgium international has made the transition from Rennes to Manchester City look simple – which is testament to his mental strength and ability, as it is certainly not an easy move to make.

Doku arrived in a new country, at the age of just 21, where he faced the challenge of breaking into a treble winning squad.

Therefore, the fact that Manchester City’s No.11 is currently the highest rated player aged 21 or under in the Premier League speaks volumes. He has taken to life at the Etihad Stadium like a duck to water.

Hopefully, Doku can maintain his highly entertaining performances.
