One of Manchester City’s summer signings has been ranked higher than Alexander Isak to Liverpool by The Athletic.

Manchester City have had a busy summer on the transfer front, making a host of exciting signings including that of the world’s best goalkeeper.

Gianluigi Donnarumma was unveiled by Man City the day after the deadline, joining the likes of Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Rayan Cherki at M11.

The Athletic have listed all 155 Premier League signings in order of how good they think they were, and one new City player has been ranked higher than Alexander Isak.

Although City conducted a lot of transfer business this summer, the huge-money signings were left to other clubs.

Indeed, Isak’s move to Liverpool broke the British transfer record – but Tim Spiers put that deal in fifth place in his rankings table.

Meanwhile, City’s move for Cherki made third place, with Spiers suggesting the club’s return on his investment could be especially high.

“He’s 22 years old, gifted, two-footed, versatile and can win any match on his own,” wrote Spiers.

“Not at the top level yet and needs to improve his work ethic, but he’s at the right club to do that.

“A potential steal at an initial £30.3m – he could be worth five times that amount in three years.”

When Rayan Cherki is expected back in action

Cherki has sadly experienced a setback in the form of a thigh injury which is expected to rule him out for around two months.

Based on the two-month timescale, Cherki should be back towards the end of October or start of November.

This means Cherki could hopefully be back for Man City’s Premier League home game against Bournemouth on 1 November if all goes to plan.

Other potential return games include City’s Champions League home meeting with Borussia Dortmund on 5 November or City’s Premier League clash with Liverpool on 8 November.

Cherki has shown glimpses of quality since joining City and it will be exciting to see how he fares as he gets more and more accustomed to the Premier League.
