Manchester City facing two hurdles in signing Federico Dimarco

However, City will have two major hurdles to overcome.

First of all, City, who won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup last season, are not the only club who are keen on Dimarco.

Chelsea want to bring in a left wing-back and have scouted the Italy international this season.

Secondly, the player himself is not pushing for a move away from former Serie A and UEFA Champions League winners Inter Milan.

90min has quoted Dimarco as saying that he wants to “renew” his contract with Inter.

The wing-back is under contract at the Italian giants until the summer of 2026.

Federico Dimarco is highly rated

While it remains to be seen if Manchester City are able to sign Federico Dimarco, there is no doubt that the Italian star is a very good player and would make Pep Guardiola’s squad better.

Previous interest from Arsenal in Dimarco shows just how highly he is rated in the footballing community.

Former Inter and Italy international defender Daniele Adani said about Dimarco in February 2021, as quoted in SempreInter: “He’s a modern full-back, who plays with quality and has a great left foot.”

Dimarco has scored one goal and given three assists in five Serie A matches for Inter so far this season.

The wing-back scored four goals and provided three assists in 26 Serie A starts and provided five assists in 10 UEFA Champions League starts for the Italian club last season.
