It seems that Manchester City are ready to do whatever it takes to get rid of Joao Cancelo for good.

Joao Cancelo spent the second half of last season on loan at Bayern Munich after reportedly falling out with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

And then in the summer of 2023, Cancelo moved to Barcelona on a season-long loan deal.

The 29-year-old Portugal international full-back is under contract at City until the summer of 2027.

Cancelo is earning £180,000 per week as salary (SalarySport).

I do not think that Cancelo will play again for City under Guardiola.

And, it seems that the Citizens, who won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup last season, just want to get rid of the full-back.

For good.

Manchester City willing to make big loss on Joao Cancelo

According to The Daily Star, City are willing to make a huge loss on Cancelo just to get him off their books for good.

The report has claimed that City have agreed to let Cancelo make his loan deal with Barcelona permanent next summer for £24.3 million.

The Citizens initially wanted £55 million for the Portuguese star, but Barcelona have convinced the Premier League leaders to do a deal for less than half of that sum.

If City do sell Cancelo for just £24.3 million next summer, then it will be a massive loss for them.

As reported by BBC Sport in August 2019, City signed Cancelo from Juventus for £60 million.

Danilo moved in the opposite direction for a fee of £34.1 million, according to the report.

So, City would be making a loss of £35.7 million on Cancelo.

I do not think that City are making a mistake in getting rid of Cancelo for good.

If Guardiola does not want him in his squad, then City should offload him for good.

But, in my view, City should ask for more than £24.3 million for the former Juventus star.

After all, Cancelo is still one of the best players in the world and is in his prime.
